Dress Code

In order to promote unity within the class, PCC has a dress code for each level in the training program. Class uniforms help to maintain a professional learning environment and create clean lines. Instructors can more effectively see the structures and lines of the body to give corrections that apply to the whole class. All uniform leotards are available for purchase in the Prima Shop!

Hair

Hair must be securely fasted into a ballet bun or French twist for all ballet classes. All jewelry must be removed before class with the exception of stud or small earrings and small rings.

Warm-Ups

Dancers are permitted to wear warm-ups in between classes but must remove them once classes begin so that the instructors can see the lines of the body.

Footwear

All students are required to wear ballet technique shoes and pointe shoes if they are approved to wear them at the discretion of the instructors. Twinkle Toes students must have tap shoes and students in jazz class must wear jazz shoes. Students taking character must wear a black character skirt that falls at or just above the knee with black character shoes.

Uniform leotard colors:

Twinkle Toes - Light blue or lavender tank leotard

Preparatory 1 - Rose tank or 3-quarter sleeve leotard

Preparatory 2 - Mauve tank or 3-quarter sleeve leotard

Preparatory 3 - Periwinkle tank or 3-quarter sleeve leotard

Student Policies

Attendance

Prima students are expected to attend all classes that they are registered for in order to cultivate discipline and a strong community within each class. Regular attendance helps promote consistent skill acquisition and muscle development. Exceptions will be made for illness, etc. Excessive absences may result in the repetition of the current level.

Make-up classes

Make-up classes will be honored for tuition that has already been paid but must be taken within the same semester. Please contact the studio in order to schedule a make-up class at the appropriate level.

Late Arrival

Students who arrive more than 10 minutes after the start of the class may be required to observe the class. The exercises which are done at the beginning of class serve to warm up the feet and legs for the activities done through the rest of the class. Without this foundational work, students are more prone to injury. It is entirely up to the discretion of the teacher to determine whether or not the student will participate or observe. Please text (763-332-9671) or email the studio if you know your student will be late.

Illness or injury

In the event of illness (including fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.), PCC kindly requests that students are kept at home until they have been feeling well for 24 hours.

Due to the extreme physical demand that ballet places on the body, injuries do occasionally occur. In the event of an injury, dancers are advised to visit a Dance Medicine specialist for more specialized treatment.

Attire

All students are expected to dress according to the PCC dress code for their specific level and classes.

Culture

At PCC, we are invested not only in the quality of training that your dancer receives, but also the culture of the studio and maintaining an encouraging environment. This is the shared responsibility of the instructors, the students, and the parents. We ask that all parents promote the collective work ethic of the studio instead of feeding into unhealthy competition between students. All parents and students are expected to refrain from gossip or malicious speech both inside and outside of the studio. Gossip is one of the quickest ways to create a hostile environment within the studio, thus we ask that parents feed into creating strong and supportive friendships with other families in the studio. The PCC faculty has almost a century of combined teaching experience and we kindly request that you trust our judgement regarding student placement, casting, and pointe readiness.

Anti-bullying Policies

As an institution, PCC recognizes the harmful effects of bullying and is committed to preventing and addressing acts that occur within the studio. If incidents of bullying occur at PCC, the student, the student's parent, the teacher of the class when the incident occurred, and the Artistic Director will have a meeting to address the incident. If the student's behavior does not change, they will be suspended for the remainder of the season.
