Nutcracker Auditions

A Magical Holiday Tradition

Auditioning for The Nutcracker at Prima Classical Coaching is a special opportunity for dancers to experience a full-scale classical ballet production while growing in confidence, artistry, and performance skills.

Our Nutcracker production is designed to be a meaningful and educational experience, welcoming dancers of many ages and levels into a professionally structured rehearsal and performance process.

Who Can Participate?

Nutcracker auditions are open to dancers ages 3 and up.

Dancers must be registered students at Prima Classical Coaching for the season in order to participate in the Nutcracker performance.

Will My Dancer Be Cast?

We aim to cast as many dancers as possible while maintaining the integrity and quality of the production. Casting decisions are made with each dancer’s age, experience, readiness, and growth in mind.

If a dancer is not cast, we encourage families to consider participating in our Spring Ballet, which offers another performance opportunity later in the season.

Please review the rehearsal calendar carefully and plan accordingly. Due to the scope of the production, individual scheduling accommodations are not possible.

What should my dancer wear?

We sell all required uniform pieces in the Prima Shop!

Twinkle Toes 1 - Light blue or lavender camisole or cap sleeve leotard

Twinkle Toes 2 - Light blue or lavender camisole or cap sleeve leotard

Boys - White t-shirt, black shorts, and black ballet slippers

*Tap shoes are required for both classes. Skirts and Twinkle Toes tutus are permitted for class.

What is the Conservatory Track?

Has your dancer been bit by the ballet bug? Take all classes offered at your dancer's level for a discounted price. More dance for a lower price? Count me in!

What are your tuition policies?

We offer 3 payment plans: monthly, semesterly, and yearly. The first and last months of tuition are due at the time of registration. For Conservatory dancers, 30 days of notice must be given to withdraw from the program and tuition must be paid for the full 30 days before the financial agreement is absolved in lieu of paying the first and last months at the time of registration (due to the higher tuition rates). Tuition can be paid by dropping a check into the lockbox at the studio or signing up for auto-pay with your credit card (subject to 3.5% convenience fee). There is a $25 late fee for any payments more than 10 days late.

Are parents required to stay?

As long as children are toilet-trained, parents are not required to stay during their child's classes. However, we would be pleased to welcome you in our lobby or cafeteria spaces with free wifi!

What are the performance opportunities?

Prima is proud to provide two high-quality performance opportunities per year to our students. Every student can audition in August to participate in The Nutcracker in December. In lieu of a recital, we do a Spring Ballet each year that all students can elect to participate in.
